SURFING LIFE – Plettenberg Bay, South Africa

“Are you amped?”

So this guy Roger Trebilcock, who used to be on the British Surfing Team and his wife Claire opened in November 2017, a fully loaded surfing (also body-boarding) and skateboard hotspot for the coastal town and area. Whether you are a novice (nerd or kook – slang) or a ‘shark biscuit’/doormat’ (body-boarder) or you prefer your deck on wheels (skateboarding), you need go no further than next to the Market on Main Plettenberg Bay at SURFING LIFE, to find your gear, accessories – and SOME GOOD CONVERSATION!

It is easy to hang out with Roger and his peeps (people). There is always news and stories about gnarly (amazing) rides and good times on the beach or between the skaters doing ‘bigflips’ (A ‘bigspin’ with a ‘kickflip’ incorporated into the spin) or some “dark-side up grab” 😊

Situated on an ideal spot on the Main Street in Plettenberg Bay, this retail facility attracts attention, not just for their attractive visual appeal, but for their ranges, their 50% SALES merchandise and their friendly staff. If you are a newbie, and you wish to test the waters first, a used surf board range is often available.

Nothing is amiss, with water (swimming and surfing) and street (skating) gear/clothes, waterproof watches and all accessories to match your personal style and taste and image preference, professionally displayed in a market-friendly facility with easy access from the street or market side.
For locals and holiday-makers alike, the shop caters for its market in grand fashion!

There is more.

Surfing Life sponsors three (3) surfing competitions and some young local youngsters as well. They are predominantly for locals (but the local crowd is very lenient like good people are – when an ‘outside area local’ appears), and these competitions feature three different formats.

1. Plett Surf About
Takes place in April and is an individual competition.
2. Plett Shootout
Takes place in June over a weekend and features a four-person team competing together.
3. King of the Wedge (Dates to be announced)
Takes place at the “Wedge” on Hobie beach, Plettenberg Bay
It is an individual competition which requires a competitor doing three disciplines to win the title. The disciplines are Surfing, Body-boarding and Body surfing.

All the information about these comps can be obtained by calling Roger on +27 (0) 44 533-6529 or +27 (0) 82 359-0947. If you don’t get him on his mobile, he is busy on a mission to improve his skill or his business model. Also talk to him about specialised surfing and skating gear, customisation and surf-info.

Surfing Life is currently working on bringing a skate-park (controlled facility for skateboarding) for aspiring skate-boarders to life, aimed at supporting young people initiatives where they can hone their skills rather than seeking some means of unsavory mischief.

Truth and Quality took time out to observe, experience and judge this retail shop. We are stoked (happy) with the management of Staff and Stock, market impact and general conduct of all involved. We give Roger and Claire (and their team) a “SHWEET” 8.160 on the T&Q Rating Scale for Sport Retail Venues, which make them eligible to join the Platinum Accredited Group of Companies on our Review List.

“Go hang with ‘em at Surfing Life…you will love it!”
